Cake Wallet download: iOS, Android, desktop and web
Cake Wallet ships as a native app for phones and desktops and as a browser wallet. This page lists the available builds, explains which one fits which job, and covers the checks that keep a download genuine.
Available builds
- iOS / macOS — App Store build, signed by the publisher.
- Android — Google Play, F-Droid and a direct APK from the project releases.
- Windows — signed installer from the release page.
- Linux — Debian package and Flatpak.
- Web — nothing to install: the browser dashboard on this domain.
App or browser?
The native app is the better long-term home for large balances: it lives on a device you control, supports hardware wallets, background sync and the full privacy toolset. The web wallet wins on convenience — a borrowed laptop, a fresh install, a locked-down phone — because it needs no permissions and no storage. Seed formats are shared, so a wallet can move between them with its phrase at any time.
Checking that a build is genuine
- Reach the store page or release page from the project site, not from a link in a message.
- On Android APKs compare the package signature; on desktop installers compare the published checksum.
- Treat “Cake Wallet” extensions that ask for a seed phrase as hostile: the wallet never collects phrases in a popup.
System requirements
Phones from the last several years run the mobile builds comfortably; desktops need a 64-bit OS and roughly a few hundred megabytes of disk. The web wallet needs any current browser with JavaScript enabled — Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge or a Chromium derivative.
Questions
Which download is right for a desktop computer?
Windows and Linux have native installers; on macOS use the App Store build. The browser wallet needs no installation at all.
Is the APK safe?
Only if it comes from the project's official release page and the signature matches. Prefer store or F-Droid builds otherwise.
Can I skip the download entirely?
Yes — the web wallet runs in the browser with the same seed formats.
